The noise from the air show is outrageous. Get this thing out of Toronto! It drives my next door neighbours out of town every year at this time, and there are many events that attract more people (Carribana, for example) without anywhere near the attack on our ears and nerves.

I want to be informed of when the air applies for permits for this annual assault, so that I can oppose it. This has never been democratically discussed with the residents of this neighbourhood.

I was at The Ex the same day as you were....but my friend and I went around the Food Building looking for the beavertail section (beavertails is part of our annual CNE ritual too) but couldn't find it. Where the heck was it?

Or maybe we were too distracted by the cheesecakes and the chicken-hat wearing cheesecake girls too.

Ya but what happened to all the hoopla at the gate and the sponsers that led the way to success back in the sixties and seventies...could it be greed or they don't care enough to discount their products anymore?? The food building was nuts in price and missing quite a few major companies that were there for years....what happened??? What a shame...

David is referring to a project devised by the CNE youth committee called EX-posed. We invite you to come up with your deepest secret relating to the CNE and put it anonymously on a card along with an image. The cards will be displayed in the Galleria of the Direct Energy Centre (outside At Home Pavilion and International Pavilion) on Saturday, August 23.

The weather on Opening Day was bizarre to say the least. During the Opening Ceremonies in the morning, there was not a cloud in the bright blue sky and the temperature was perfect. We couldn't have ordered up better weather. It was later in the day that things changed -- rain, hail, a funnel cloud and, at the end of it all, two of the most amazing rainbows I've ever seen side by side. CNE visitors are troopers though -- they stuck around and seemed to be having a great time despite the weather.

Well, I don't know where you were on opening day of the Ex, but I was there dodging in and out of the pouring rain! lol I actually had never been to the Ex on opening day, but I do try to go on a day when they are calling for rain as there are less people to contend with!

All in all, I would say it was a great day...I spent far too much money because with the rain, I needed to be in the buildings! lol We will be back again on the next two weekends, our family loves the EX!

I was at the CNE on the second day. I have to say, the Canadian Armed Forces display was a highlight for me as well. I climbed on top of a Tank. How many people can say they Mounted a Tank. BAM!!!!
I was kind of nervous about going in the one of the buses they had set up because my brother made a joke about going inside and next thing you know the bus doors closes and you're off to the training camp. But no, they were very pleasant and genuinely happy to see that people have such a strong interest in the Armed Forces.
